The LA AAP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit member organization based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We advocate for the health and well-being of every child in Louisiana through advocacy, continuing medical education, and collaboration. Our website serves members, physicians, residents, students, allied health professionals, and the general public.

Service Providers

We share information with third-party vendors who help usoperate the site and provide services. These providers are contractually required to use information only for the services we request. Our key service providers include:

  • Webflow— website hosting and content management
  • Stripe— payment processing for donations, registrations, and purchases
  • GoogleAnalytics — website traffic and usage analytics
  • EmailOctopus — email newsletter delivery and subscriber management
  • MomentiveSoftware (Path LMS) — learning management system used to deliver, track, and award credit for our continuing medical education (CME) activities. Information shared may include your name, email address, professional credentials, and CME activity participation data.

CME Accreditation and Reporting

As an accredited provider of continuing medical education, the LA AAP is required to report learner participation and credit information to accrediting and licensing bodies. We share limited personal information (such as your name, professional credentials, license number where applicable, andb the CME activities you completed) with:

  • ACCMEPARS (Program and Activity Reporting System) — the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s reporting system, used to report CME activity and learner credit data as required for accredited CME providers.
  • CEBroker — a continuing education tracking service used by state licensing boards. Where required or requested, we report your CME completions to CEBroker to support license renewal and compliance.

These disclosures are necessary to maintain our CME accreditation and to provide the credit-reporting services you expect when you participate in our educational activities.

Legal and Safety

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or legitimate request from law enforcement; when necessary to protect therights, safety, or property of LA AAP, our members, or the public; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of organizational assets.

Within the LA AAP and AAP National

We may share member information with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) national office and other AAP chapters as needed to administer joint membership, accredited CME programs, or chapter operations.

With Your Consent

We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

Email Communications

If you have provided your email address, we may use it to send you LA AAP newsletters, conference announcements, advocacy updates, CME opportunities, and similar communications. Every marketing email includes an "unsubscribe" link, and you may opt out at any time by clicking that link or by emailing us at admin@laaap.org. Unsubscribing from marketing emails will not affect transactional communications related to active memberships, registrations, or donations.

Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information about site usage and report site trends to us. This information isused in aggregate and does not personally identify individual visitors.

We do not currently use third-party advertising networks orsell advertising space on our site.

Children's Privacy

The LA AAP advocates for children’s health, but our website is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent orguardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@laaap.org and we will promptly delete that information from our records, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

  • Correction— Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion— Request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions

  • Reputable third-party providers (Webflow, Stripe, Google, Email Octopus, Momentive Software) with their own enterprise security programs

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You should not send sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers or full payment details) to us by email.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specifically:

  • Membership records are retained for the duration of your membership and for a reasonable period afterward for historical and reporting purposes
  • Event registration data is retained for at least seven years to support CME credit verification and audit requirements
  • Donation records are retained as required by IRS rules for tax-exempt organizations
  • ·Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe
  • Website analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration, generally up to 26 month
