About Us

The State Governmental Affairs Committee of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (LA AAP) is a vital channel for pediatricians, child health advocates, and allies to influence policy at the state level—ensuring the health and well-being of all children in Louisiana. As part of LA AAP’s broader mission to advocate for youth health, support professional development, and shape public health policy, this committee focuses specifically on legislative and regulatory actions that impact pediatric care.

The committee invites members to explore how the legislative session works, engage in policy discussions, and contribute directly to developing LA AAP’s advocacy agenda. The committee’s structure emphasizes inclusivity and diversity—seeking representation across regions, ethnicities, genders, and stages of career, and includes at least four Chapter members plus the organization's contracted lobbyist.
