On Super Tuesday, voters in Maine rejected a ballot initiative that would have overturned a law limiting nonmedical vaccine exemptions. This was the first time in modern history that an effort opposing vaccine requirements was put up for a statewide vote.
The Academy’s Maine chapter played a vital role in defeating this ballot initiative through its tireless advocacy. This protects Maine’s children and communities and demonstrates strong voter support for life-saving vaccines.
“Let this victory serve as a guiding star for all of us who work to keep children healthy and safe every day,” said AAP President Sally Goza, MD, FAAP, in this press statement.
